Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Unlike other books on retailing, Specialty Shop Retailingis aimed at the reader who has a dream of opening a store, but little background in this type of business. The book takes into account the fact that their motivation is often not primarily monetary, but rather the intangible benefits of creating your own business and working with people and products that you love. This new and improved 3rd edition includes material about selling on the Internet, including eBay storefronts; online marketing and customer service improvements; and changes in the retailing field, such as competing with big box retailers and the demise of the sales rep system.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars great book!   June 20, 2008

This book is everything I had read about it. Thoughtful and complete in describing what it is like to open and run a specialty retail shop. Carol Schroeder seems to have identified all of the areas she would have wanted to be counseled on when starting her own business, and then spends time talking on the topic. This one is worth the money spent!

If you have just opened a retail store, are getting ready to open, have begun planning your opening, have a retail store idea in mind, or have ever thought about any kind of retail adventure...this book is a MUST read! Carol Schroeder is an experienced and successful retail owner and she doesn't hesitate to share her knowledge in this book. I will keep this book by my side as I continue to plan my grand opening and beyond.
