From the supplier: The Dept of Commerce estimates the annual franchise failure rate at around 4%. However, this figure is misleading since it is based on voluntary disclosures made by franchisees. An assessment of 103 Uniform Franchise Offering Circulars was carried out to make an empirical study of the failure rate. It took into account the impact of franchisor age, size and capital strength to confirm the Commerce Dept's estimate.
