4 out of 5 stars Sales advice with religious counsel   January 11, 2008
Let the pink Cadillac ladies jumpstart your sales career. When Mary Kay cosmetics salespeople succeed, they drive off with a big pink car. Mary Kay executive Gillian Hennessy-Ortega, one of those drivers, offers tips about goal setting, customer development and personal growth in an excellent career manual with an insightful mix of advice and examples. The book excels when delivering inspiration about setting goals. Hennessy-Ortega provides a spirited discussion about finding the right balance among home, work and spiritual growth. The author does make a heavy push for Christianity, so if you'd rather get sales advice without religious counsel, this may not be for you. But if old-time inspiration is part of your motivational package, we believe this book can serve as a productive tool for personal and career growth.

4 out of 5 stars Pink is where it's at   October 18, 2007
I'm a former Mary Kay consultant, and have only the highest regard for the company. This book is a motivational tribute to the women in pink who have decided to create their own success. Funny thing is -- the success dream is not the same for every person. There are those that want to make it all the way to the top and others who love the flexibility of being able to do what they want when they want. Gillian Hennessy-Ortega did a great job of delivering specific ideas to those already in Mary Kay to help them market Mary Kay and themselves. Furthermore, she's helped those people thinking about becoming a Mary Kay consulant to visualize the possibilities. Nice read.

It was wonderful to hear Gillian's story. I believe that many people can be inspired to dream and become whatever they desire with determination and drive. It was an easy read; once you start the book you won't want to put it down!

4 out of 5 stars Its all about enriching women's lives   February 22, 2006

Mary Kay Ash was a genius at positioning her business from a customer and from an employee perspective - it was all about enriching women's lives and at one point she had the most women employees earning more than $50 000 per year in the USA - nice story, achieveable, great at identifying and building employee potential and self belief and quite different from most soulless corporations that we find in world business today - a must for the naively optimistic because it can be done.

5 out of 5 stars Good instruction for setting all types of goals   January 16, 2006

I am only about half-way through this book now but I find this book to be a great little instruction manual. It does not preach. Gillian Ortega writes from her heart. There are many examples in this book of how to achieve success (in anything, including weight-loss, etc.) and it all boils down to determination, goal-setting, and belief in yourself. Something this book is really helping me with is believing in myself and getting over my expectation of instant gratification. I am eager to finish the book, but I feel I've already gotten something out of it. I would definitely recommend this as a motivational book.
