That would depend on the place. First, there have to be people there who love enjoying a cup of coffee after work, after dinner, or whenever they feel like relaxing. Other franchises might actually prove better if they're able to serve good coffee with lower prices.

I would think it would have to be a well known name, if I'm out and want coffee then I will look for a starbucks over a no name coffee place.

No doubt, Starbucks has gained its popularity over its competition because of the coffee it offers; however, a larger part of the population, especially the ones with average salaries, would go for less costing but nonetheless excellent coffee from other shops.
