It does vary widely. The cheapest that I know of is Chic-fil-a, which only costs $35k to start (they pay for the building). The catch is that you pay them 35% of your GROSS Sales. McD's, BK, etc. will cost $200k+ to start up, but then you pay a lot less percentage of sales. Most restaurants require you to have a high net worth to even be considered. If there are any that you are interested in, just go to their homepage and select "franchise information" to find out their specific requirements.
