Typically there is a startup costs of about 100,000-250,000, depending on the franchise. Then you usually pay a monthly franchise fee of some sort, but that depends on which company you franchise with and what programs they have.

It depends if you rent or are purchasing the building. Some are 60 - 80 k, some up to a million. Monthly payments depend on how much you finance. Franchise fees are monthly, usually 4 to 7%.

It does vary widely. The cheapest that I know of is Chic-fil-a, which only costs $35k to start (they pay for the building). The catch is that you pay them 35% of your GROSS Sales. McD's, BK, etc. will cost $200k+ to start up, but then you pay a lot less percentage of sales. Most restaurants require you to have a high net worth to even be considered.
