There have been plenty of prospects already (including Bill Murray no less). They estimate the team is worth $600 million. So who do you think will end up holding the team?

I hope it is Jerry Colangelo. He did so much with the teams in Arizona. Getting the D-Backs to the world series and also the Phoenix Suns. He is now back living in Chicago and if he were to buy the team with investors I think that would do miracles for that team.

It may be a conglomerate like when Steinbrenner led a group to buy the Yankees. Bill Murray may not have cash to buy them, but he may be the front man for a group that wants to. Maybe Jim Belushi would join that group.

Mark Cuban has popped up, as well as the owner for the American Hockey League's Chicago Wolves, who have made the playoffs 11 out of 12 years and has shown he's committed to winning and fan appreciation.

Rumor has it that the next owner could be Mark Cuban. I, being a Cubs fan, and a die hard one at that, would love to see Cuban as the owner of the Cubs. Look at it this way, ten years ago the Dallas Mavericks were on the brink...they were constantly one of the worst teams in the league. Cuban came in power January 14th 2000...in 99 they were a 40 win team in 98 the were a 19 win team...in 2000 they were a 53 win team...57 in 2001... and have not fallen behind 57 wins since the 2001-2002 season...all becuase of Cuban's aggressiveness and want...nay need to win. Now think of this from a Cubs fan point of view...ownership has been quiet and just wanting to put butt's in the seats since they came into ownership...now think of Cuban who wants people in the seats...but also wants to give them a quality product at a quality price...that is what the Cubs need...a man who is willing to shell out money and sit with the fans...a man who is willing to sit through a bad season so that he can make improvements and then give us a championship....BRING ON MARK CUBAN....GOOD BYE TRIBUNE CO.....AND GO CUBS

Their calling it a season already because of this whole thing!just as well, It won't matter who buys them or what group. This will be the biggest headline of the year and for what? Opening day is today and this is the headline. I hope at least someone who gives 2 cents about baseball buys them. Da coach could get in it.

I would hope a group of fans like Bill Murray, Jim Belushi, George Wendt, who care about the team and its fans and take it in a winning direction. I personally dislike the Cubs (I am a Chicago resident) but think the fans that follow the club deserve a group of owners who care about them.
