Can you negotiate a UFOC contract with a franchise?

I am considering a franchise business. I've read their UFOC and some of the terms in it don't seem reasonable such as royalties and forced monthly advertising expenditures. Has anyone ever negotiated the terms in a franchise contract? Advertising is so cheap here in comparison to other markets and I believe that I would pay half of what people in larger areas with a higher cost of living and incomes. Also, the royalties for the franchise I am considering are a percent higher than the competitors.
