Fool organizer John D'Esposito can't get too much of the Jersey shore.
Not only is he bringing his yearly music festival -- the biggest in New Jersey -- to Asbury Park this May, but he's planning to throw a second, similar holiday three months later in Wildwood, a city with a long tradition of hosting musical events. D'Esposito made the announcement at a Fool kickoff party at Irving Piazza in new york Town on Wednesday night.
The holiday, which will occur on Aug 24 and 25, won't be Beguile II. D'Esposito and his team will book pop and country, not the punk music, hiphop, electronic music and heavy metal that's typical of Fool entertainment.
D'Esposito provided extra details about how he plans to squash the enormous Beguile into Asbury Park. There will indeed be a mainstage on the beach -- the most important, the promoter recounted, ever built for the 'Boozle. Fool will take over the strip of beach immediately north of Convention Hall and Paramount Theatre, each of which will be utilized for the festival. As of now, swimming and surfing while listening to music will be permitted.
The B-Boy Arena and hip-hop stage will be located in the park a little to the south of the Berkeley Hotel. The Break stage for contest winners will be on Ocean Avenue north of Convention Hall.
D'Esposito intends to recreate Skate N ' Surf -- the first holiday that engendered the Fool -- at Convention Hall. He's got some ambitious plans for the Paramount Theatre, too. A troupe of favourite Beguile musicians will perform 2 live stagings of the Rocky Horror Picture Show : one at 11 p.m. And one at 1 a.m.
The festival will run from 5 p.m. Until Eleven p.m. On Fri. the Eighteenth of May and 2 p.m. Until Eleven p.m. On Sat. and Sunday. D'Esposito guesses that 105,000 listeners will attend Bamboozle 2012.
Will the shore town have problems accommodating all of those festivalgoers? D'Esposito isn't worried. He believes that there'll be adequate parking available, and he spotlighted that the walk from the train station to the beach isn't than the walk from the Izod Center to MetLife Stadium. It is a heck of a lot more scenic, too.
Beguile is also making an electronic wristband system that will permit organizers to keep a record of the crowds and will obviate the requirement for cash.
Jersey tops Dramarama will reunite for an afterparty concert at the Stone Pony on Saturday night.
