It really depends on where you live. Here, where I am, I don't need a business license to have an in-home business because I am in the county. Now, if I were working out of my home in the city limits I would need one. Also, if you are in the city you may want to check your zoning. The reason - if you have a lot of clients pulling up at your home all day your neighbors may not appreciate that and technically, if you aren't in a business zone the city could make you stop if you are distracting the neighbors. If you are going out and picking up your work from your clients then that shouldn't be a problem or if you have just a few clients I don't see where that would be a problem either.I would definitely see about registering your businesses name - that way your can make sure it is available to use and that no one else can use it.Good luck!
