Fool organizer John D'Esposito can't get too much of the Jersey shore.
Not only is he bringing his yearly music holiday -- the most important in New Jersey -- to Asbury Park this can, but he's planning to throw a 2nd, similar holiday a quarter later in Wildwood, a town with a long tradition of hosting musical events. D'Esposito made the announcement at a Fool kickoff party at Irving Plaza in new york City on Wednesday night.
The festival, which will take place on Aug 24 and Twenty-five, will not be Bamboozle II. D'Esposito and his team will book pop and country, not the punk music, hiphop, electronic music and heavy metal that's typical of Beguile entertainment.
D'Esposito provided extra details about how he plans to squash the enormous Bamboozle into Asbury Park. There will indeed be a mainstage on the beach -- the largest, the promoter said, ever built for the 'Boozle. Bamboozle will take over the strip of beach without delay north of Convention Hall and Paramount Theatre, both of which will be utilized for the holiday. As of now, swimming and surfing while listening to music will be allowed.
The B-Boy Arena and hiphop stage will be located in the park just south of the Berkeley Hotel. The Break stage for contest winners will be on Ocean Avenue north of Convention Hall.
D'Esposito plans to recreate Skate N ' Surf -- the original festival that engendered the Fool -- at Convention Hall. He's got some ambitious plans for the Paramount Theatre, too. A troupe of favourite Beguile musicians will perform two live stagings of the Rocky Horror Picture Show : one at 11 p.m. And one at 1 a.m.
The holiday will run from 5 p.m. Till Eleven p.m. On Fri. the 18th of May and Two p.m. Until 11 p.m. On Saturday and Sun.. D'Esposito guesses that 105,000 listeners will attend Bamboozle 2012.
Will the shore city have difficulty accommodating all of those festivalgoers? D'Esposito isn't worried. He suspects that there'll be ample parking available, and he pointed out that the walk from the train station to the beach isn't than the walk from the Izod Center to MetLife Stadium. It's a heck of a lot more breathtaking, too.
Bamboozle is also instituting an electronic wristband system that may allow organizers to keep a record of the crowds and will obviate the requirement for cash.
Jersey favorites Dramarama will reunite for an afterparty concert at the Stone Pony on Saturday night.
