I read from Forbes.com the "Ten Good Reasons Not To Buy A Franchise". While it is an enticing idea to enjoy having your own business, there are risks/disadvantages associated with it. Here is the list:
1. Questionable profitability.
2. High startup costs.
3. Encroachment.
4. Lack of legal recourse.
5. Limited independence.
6. Royalty payments.
7. Inflated pricing on supplies.
8. Restrictions on post-term competition.
9. Advertising fees.
10. Unfair termination.
I'm just wondering if anyone can enlighten me (and well, other confused readers) about this topic. I'm pretty sure, many have become discouraged after reading the list. Thank me for not posting the explanations for each. I figured maybe franchise connoisseurs could help bring back the confidence of aspiring entrepreneurs on franchising business. Please post your expert opinion.
