The franchise needs to pay for the initial fees, security deposits, building costs for the outlet, pre-operating expenses and initial operating capital. The initial fees include payment for the use of the franchiser's trademarks and business system, while the building costs include the expenses for leasehold improvements and equipment, furniture and fixtures, construction management and design fees. The pre-operating expenses include the cost of registering the business and training the franchisee's employees. The franchisee also sets aside an amount to cover the branch's initial inventory and the expenses required to operate the branch for the first month or the first two months.

Costs vary according to the type of franchise, what equipment and premises you need. There are a few franchises where the fees are structured in a different way: you pay a small sum to join and a flat fee every week or month for ongoing services.

| | Re: How much does it take to buy a franchise? I don’t think there is a fixed rate for a franchise. It would depend on how popular the company you would like to buy the franchise, equipments, service crew training if any and a lot more. Just make sure that when you plan to have a franchise, you are financially capable. |

Most food cart franchises and other small franchises could start for as low as 200$ or 10,000 Philippine Currency. But bigger and reputable companies definitely have higher franchising fees. It could start from 100,000 Philippine Currency to 10 Million or more in Philippine Currency.

It depends on the company or name you would be franchising. The more popular the name, the higher the franchise fee. But it would have less risk compared to those with cheaper franchise fee and less popular brand name.

That is why I prefer to start from scratch rather than buying a franchise if it's only for a small type of business. But if we are talking about franchising a leading fast food, I won't have doubt and start saving for it.
