Once upon a time, on a college break, Bonte Wafflerie Cafe founder went backpacking through Europe after completing a grueling round of midterms at the University of Colorado. While in Brussels, he discovered one of Belgium’s most popular offerings: the sugar waffle or gaufre (pronounced go-fră). No matter where he ventured, he was captivated again and again by the sweet-scented aroma and luscious taste of these expertly prepared, street-vendor treats. Suddenly, he had a vision to make these treats available to the residents in his own city: In that moment, Bonte, which means “goodness” in French, was born. Since 2003, Bonte Wafflerie Cafe  has been enchanting the people of Philadelphia with the same sweet experience encountered on the streets of Brussels.
